What to Do to Prevent the Air Conditioning Unit from Getting Damaged

Preventing an Air Conditioning Repair

Once the temperature outside goes up, the air conditioning unit’s temperature goes down. The air conditioning is our refuge on a hot day or night and the last thing we want during this season is to have a damaged air conditioning equipment. There are ways for these damages to be prevented, though. Here are some tips on how to prevent an air conditioning repair:

Change the air conditioning’s filter every 4-6 weeks, depending on how often you use it. The unit will work harder if the filter is dirty. This can lead to damages to the unit.

Keep direct sunlight out during the day. The unit will do its best to keep the room cold. If the room’s temperature is hot because of the sun streaming in through the window, it will work harder. Close the shades when the sun is up to keep its rays from getting into the room.

Set the unit’s temperature to a higher setting the moment you turn it on. People tend to use the lowest temperature to cool the room immediately when they arrive. This will overwork the air conditioning unit. Change the temperature slowly. This is one of the reasons why most air conditioning repair is needed.

Switch off the exhaust fan in the kitchen and bathroom if they are not in use anymore. The exhaust fan will blow all the cool air out of the room, causing the unit to overwork. This is the same effect when you are cooking. Make sure the exhaust fan is turned off. It will blow the hot air out of the room.

A preventive maintenance is very important to the air conditioning unit. Do not wait for the unit to get damaged. Have it checked on a regular basis.
